In Kadens, Gerd Aurell and Helena Wikström investigate the changing landscape of the Ume River Delta.
The Ume River Delta can be seen as a giant park or garden just outside the city limits. In the film ”Kadens”, a musician takes her bike from the close-by city of Umeå. On her trumpet, she plays an improvised sound portrait of the changing landscape; a fanfare by the river’s edge, a melancholic folksong in the meadow, a jazz improvisation in the woods. She’s always on the move, in the end of the film passing over to the next little delta island just emerging from the river. Her movement is a metaphor for a landscape in constant change.
